Lawrence R. Klein


Lawrence R. Klein, Professor Emeritus of Economics and Finance at the University of Pennsylvania, joined the faculty in 1958 and has also taught at Univ. of Chicago, Michigan & Oxford. In 1980 he was the Nobel Laureate in Economics for his global econometric LINK Model which combined models from countries around the world for studying international trade, payments and global economic activity. He holds a Ph.D. from MIT (1944) and a B.A. (Phi Beta Kappa) from California at Berkeley in 1942. In 1976 he coordinated Jimmy Carter's econometric task force for the Presidential race. He founded the Wharton Econometric Forecasting Associates and has honorary degrees from 25 universities. His research interests include studying international trade, payments and global economic activity through econometrics.
